If you use a program like bearshare you will have to convert the songs to iPod format. Just add the songs to your iTunes library and select the option for convert. Sometimes it does it automatically. you don't have to burn it in cd first.

1) Download the songs from Bearshare, Limewire, etc.
2) Download a format converter @ http://www.download.com/Free-Mp3-Wma-Converter/3000-2140_4-10640505.html?tag=lst-0-4
3) Convert the songs to ipod formats and put them on your ipod.
4) enjoy
*I recommend Shareaza instead of Bearshare, it has less viruses. Go to http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tg=dl-20&qt=shareaza&tag=srch to download.

download the files, then convert them using iTunes. you don't have to burn them to a cd first, but if you like having it, i guess it works just fine the way you've been doing it, but it sounds like it takes much longer.

yes you can, if you want to load up your PC with viruses. I did it and it cost me $100.00 to clean it up. Stay away from Bearshare.
