Twin studies have found some genetic link with being gay, but it's not 100 per cent, like most things! But they have found there are definitely some clear genetic links there, that could predispose someone to being gay, but it isn't a purely genetic thing.

I think you are missing a catagory, in that there's also the fact it could be your circumstances (not talking obvious things, but small things in upbringing and whilst a child could lead to it) that eventually lead to someone being gay. Most things aren't purely nature or nurture, there's a combination of both.

I don't think there's any proof that it's a choice, I don't think you can prove something is a choice very well, unless there are no genetic links at all, nor no proof that it's based on experiences and 'nurture'.

Being attracted to someone isn't a choice. It has been found that their are many things that influence why we are attracted to certain people.

We do no try to prove whether it's a choice that you are a attracted to a certain member of the opposite sex (we just take it that it's something beyond your control, which it is), so why would it be a choice if you are attracted to someone of the opposite sex?

Well, the only way I can think to prove that people do not schoose to be gay is that I am gay. I thought it was the worst thing, and, unfortunately, no one had addressed the issue and told me it was okay. For the longest time I was afraid I was some sort of sick freak, but I know better now. I've come to accept it and even enjoy it now. The only think gay, bi, and trans people choose is whether or not to "come out of the closet".

Why does anybody care about if being gay is a choice or are people born that way? I say we are born that way because that's how I feel inside. The same way straight people feel when they are attracted to the opposite sex is how I feel. Why would I choose to be gay? If I was straight, then I would be straight. It would be stupid of me to choose to be gay, if I was not attracted to men. If I liked girls then I would date girls.

Also, seeing as how gay people are disliked, why would anybody choose to be gay if they were not?

Why can't people accept that homosexuality is another way of being? If you are not, that's okay, but if you are, then that's just how it is. No big deal. We can all co-exist together peacefully. We have been doing it anyway, but the heteros feel threatened for some reason.
