I was so disappointed in the movie. I had just finished the book which, although it started off a little slow, I was enjoying so much at the end I immediately started reading Eldest. The movie got so bad that by the time it showed the elf with the feather in her hair, I was laughing loud enough to disturb other movie goers. I really think this story could've been made into an excellent movie. I mean, who would've thought a movie that had Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich could've been so butchered? I was very disappointed with the lack of good special effects also. My overall vote: 1

I haven't read the book or seen the movie but friends that have done both told me that I shouldn't. (watch the movie)
This part was told to me by a friend...
In the movie everything is unaccurate and there are places that you are ashamed to watch out of being a fan for of the book. At this one part a person dies at the wrong time in the wrong place by the wrong person.
I'd give it a 2

I have to chime in even though I haven't read the book. I saw rottentomatoes reviews of the movie and stayed WELL away from it. Remember the last time Jeremy Irons was in a fantasy movie? Dungeons and Dragons (1).... yah, that warned me this was going to be a stinker.

I actually read the book, and if you haven't you should. The movie however, did suck beyond belief. There was a vague likeness of the book, but otherwise, it stunk. I rate it a 2.

2, at best.
They took a 9.5 book, and took it,chewed it up, spit it out, stomped on it, boiled it, threw it in the trash compactor, poured all manner of foul substances on it, canned it,processed it, buried it in worm-infested soil with the corpses of skunks and rotten eggs to keep it company, and then resold it as a film.
Basically, they did the same thing to it as they do to meat to produce a McDonald's hamburger.
But the special effects were good, which is the only thing keeping me from giving it a -5.
The book rocked. The movie was godawful.

I'd say 5, because it was good, but only for the people that haven't read the book.
