You can't quit and get unemployment. You have to be laid off. Also, you can't be laid off for a number of reasons, like failing a drug test, not showing up to work, etc. You will have to consult your state's unemployment agency to determine the details.
Your broader question, how do i quit my job legally? Your state is probably an employment-at-will state. Unless you gave consideration for your hire, you can quit at any time. You could quit right now if you wanted, just like they could fire you at any time without cause (well, not b/c of race, sex, etc).
There's no point in feuding with a boss unless you expect to quit- Especially this boss because it seems as though he thinks he's above the law. Bottom line, you won't get unemployment if you quit.

Go out and get another job...any job..then pick up your check and then mail them a certified (signature on receipt required ) letter telling that you will not be back for personal reasons and they should mail you any money you still have coming. Don't say anything about why you are leaving, they might try to hold it against you in the future. If they do not send you the money they owe you in 10 days..send a letter to your state department of labor with a certified copy to them. Say that the employer is holding your pay and can they help you. No employer wants the state starting a file on them..good luck.

First off if you walk out you'll never get unemployment. If you want to quit you job leaglly and get unemployment just make him fire you, just question everything he does and eventually he wil get pissed and fire you over something stupid the mostlike reason will be cuz the company is cutting back so they don't need you which will get you a fat check from the unemployment agency, how ever he may try to fight it cuz they have to contact him first, so from now on document everything he says and does so when you have your hearing you have atleast something to stand on...good luck !

I don't think you can "quit" illegally. Its not illegal to quit your job. But you can go to the person above your boss and file a complaint also if he is buying alcohol for minors you can tell the police. I would go above him. If there is noone above him I would call the police department and tell them what is going on. If nothing else he needs to stop supplying minors That is illegal.

i believe if you quit, no matter what (in cali at least) you will not get unemployment. the only way to get unemployment is to get fired, or layed off. so you have to piss off your boss bad enough for him to fire you, and then you can collect from it. but if you wanna quit, say **** you i'm outa here, and there ya go, the "legal" way to quit i don't know if there is one, but there's a respectful way to do it, and that's giving 2 weeks notice, prior to your last day. and they have to give you your last paycheck in full on the date you leave, or you can sue.

You can't quit and get unemployment.
You can't get fired for cause and get unemployment.
Pretty much they'll have to lay you off if you want unemployment.
I don't see an option. If you hate it that much, get another job. I know you want to go back to school, but if you can't afford it, well, 'nuff said.

You should check into how much you will make on UI. You may find it won't even pay for your pencils.
It is possible to quit and still collect UI in certain circumstances. Check your state's website for details.
