Some are not real. Many "social causes" are more politically motivated than a real issue. Even if these politically motivated issues are real politics tend to play such a large role in the problem neither side wants a solution.

Look at education: Both conservatives and liberals like using it as a platform for political gains rather than really trying to fix the problem.

Because people don't want to deal wth social causes.. they are not pop culture topics.
Even if it doesnt happen... the majority of people would like to think that there are other people somewhere in a studying field at some university focusing on social causes. We leave that type of work to activists, liberals, and news anchors, I guess and that is just enough to keep us content and thinking it is not our responsibility to hone in on social topics.

Some social causes are real. Some are fictions dreamed up by someone who has a solution to offer to something that isn't there.

1. they can't empathsize with the reason for social causes
2. they don't understand what a social cause is
3. people will go to any extreme to avoid getting involved
4. social causes usually infers monetary involvement; people are selfish and unwilling to part with the buck.

If they act like they are not real, they will be more easily able to ignore them and not have to be responsible for action.

Some live in a constant state of denial, if they don't acknowledge it; then it is not happening. Some are just very selfish individuals and do not care about anyone but themselves. God bless****

Because they tend to be used as excuses and justifications for people to avoid responsibility for their actions.
