Your prescription is for a daily consumption of the strength of Lipitor that you have been given. What you are doing is cutting the effectiveness of the drug in 1/2 because you are taking less than has been prescribed so the Lipitor may not reduce your cholesterol.
The drug manufacturer has completed studies based upon taking the drug daily - so your wasting your time and money by taking it every other day.

1. Due to it's long half-life Lipitor (atorvastatin) can be taken either morning or evening.
2. Recent studies show that taking "statin" drugs every other day is almost as effective as taking them daily and may lessen the potential for development of muscle aches and pains sometimes associated with these drugs.

If you want to take it in the evening it is fine as long as you are going to make sure that you are going to take it daily. This kind of medication is said to be taken daily for it to have a continuous effect in lowering the cholesterol level in the body. Taking it every other day will not help you lowering your cholesterol level. Did better with a whole grain diet for breakfast and lunch
My HDL went from 34 to 73 in just 1 year
My LDL and TRI also went down

Honestly, my bad chol was at 204, but since I was diabetic, they put me on this. I decided to only take it Mon - Fri. My levels went down drastically. So now I take it every other day, and never on weekends. So there. LOL
