You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and you believe whatever you want to believe.

You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.*

- Morpheus, in The Matrix

What does the Red Pill and Blue Pill mean to you, in real life?

The 'blue pill' is Nietzsche's slave morality. You do not decide your fate, others do. Blend in; do not stand out. Modify yourself to fit the universe and deny your senses in favour of your beliefs. Accept. Tolerate. Endure. Do not think.

The 'red pill' is the master morality. You don't like something? CHANGE IT. You have the power to create whole universes if you only have the will. This makes you a god. You have to accept nothing as long as you are willing to fight and win, never give up, and probably die. It is all yours: the heights of triumph and the depths of despair.

Too stark. i could take the crimson pill, yet basically because of the fact then i'm getting to handle certainty yet can ignore approximately it while i could desire to, without tuning out for something of my existence. i could in all hazard finally end up like maximum have in this century, taking a miles less powerful blue invoice, no remember if that pill be drugs (criminal or unlawful), meditation, paying for, trip, activities or television cleansing soap operas. Too many are on a blue pill binge. Moderation is a good element. Peace

The red pill symbolizes the will for ignorance. If you wish to remain ignorant, even if you have an inkling of something wrong with the world, a feeling of unease, etc., you should choose to take the red pill, and go back to life as you know it, but you'll never know the truth or have your suspicions confirmed, and even if you believe whatever you want to believe, it'll probably always be a sort of forced, deliberate belief - a form of self-delusion, submerging your doubts, curiosity, unease, etc., into your subconscious. There'll probably always be that nagging, disturbing feeling, that dark corner of your mind where doubt and suspicion and horror live... But at least you might be happy. If you take the blue pill, you can never go back. Life will certainly not be better, but you'll learn the truth, and have your free will, instead of being controlled by the system. Both choices have pros and cons, but personally I would choose to take the red pill. I don't think that people who would do that are just cowardly or simpleminded or mindless or deluded or not wanting knowledge or whatever; I think that life would be more terrible if you learned the whole truth, and it's your choice to make, even through it wouldn't be great going through life with that vague unease, either, always feeling that there's something more to it all than you'll ever know or want to know. If, on the other hand, you're a stupid, simple person, then you'll just be happy going back to your normal life, and you probably wouldn't even have the choice of the blue or red pill in the first place, because if you view that as a metaphor for a mental event, then unintelligent, unperceptive people would not have doubts about their world and accept everything as it seems.

Taking the Blue Pill to me is the acknowledgment that I have questions, but that those questions have been deemed unimportant to the meaning that I have given my life, and thus do not take precedence over that life. In other words, I have questions, but I don't care to pursue an answer.

The Red Pill is the attempt to answer those questions because the value of their answers are more important to me than the potential loss that might occur through finding them.

Neither choice is better. Both have their merits. Its just comes down to whatever makes you the happiest.

Simple. The Blue Pill is reality and the Red Pill is the imagination.

The blue pill represents a desire for stability and safety over truth.

The red pill represents the desire for truth at whatever cost.

Most people choose the blue pill. They don't recognize the cost it carries.

But once you take the red pill, there is no turning back.

The blue pill.

It's simulacra all the way down. The writers really should have read Baudrillard before they started refering to him in the film.
