pogo isn't working for me anymore and i'm not able to get on to yahoo games. is there any other chess sites i can get on to. or how about old games like pacman? i can't download anything either. i stay at work. please help.

There are several chess sites available, but very few are in frequent use. If you are just looking to play, I'd go with http://www.freechess.org where you can play with other people online for fun. I used to go there a lot to play chess and I was also a tournament manager there, but my personal time has needed to be spent elsewhere. Mostly, the people there are pretty nice and welcoming.
If you want a more serious endeavor, for an annual fee, you can join up with http://www.chessclub.com
