Start with the DA and tell him you are refusing to press charges and want the case dropped. That should end it.

You can tell the DA that you no longer want to pursue prosecution. However, the state still has the right to pick up the charges and still pursue prosecution. You could still be subpoenaed to appear and testify. It depends on the rest of their evidence. A person is hardly ever indicted over just someones word. If they think they have a case without you they'll pursue it. So, start with the DA. Be prepared if he doesn't want to drop charges. If that happens, talk to the defendant's attorney.

If you are quilt of making a statement against someone PLEASE contact the DA and tell him what happened. Then call the man's attorney tell him the same thing.

There are some types of crimes, that the state will prosecute anyway. Like spousal abuse, one the statement is made, the state takes it and runs with it. SO be ready to testify if you can not drop the statement.

Sometimes when we are jealous, angry, or hurt we do things that can get others into trouble. SO please right the situation with this young man.

Call the DA. Just be prepared that you may be in trouble for making false statements. You must do it though. It would be terrible for an innocent person to suffer.
