That is tough. These are fiction books I constantly re-read. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde is so thought-provoking. I didn't like The Life of Pi but I always think about it at random moments so it must be okay. I loved Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. And Lamb is always so funny but interesting to read; it's about the "missing" years of Jesus' life as written by his best friend, Biff.

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. Hp has series of twists and turns that makes every reader grasping for more. The genius of the author, J.K. Rowling, shines through this series as she reveals emotion, danger, and magic. Her characters are brilliant and you will fell connected to them by the time the book is through. The seventh and last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released July 21, 2006 leaving perfect time for you to read the series thus far in time for the release.

Fictional - Middlemarch by George Eliot. It follows the lives of people in the town of Middlemarch, and is quite a good read (never let the size of a book scare you).

_The God of Small Things_ by Arundhati Roy. It is a post-colonial story about a woman and her family in India, its wonderful.

Like someone about said _Du cote de chez Swann_ is an excellent read. The novel, however, is not the same in English at all.
