To keep the pills from rattling around and breaking in transit.

As a point of health safety, when you use the medicine, remove the cotton and discard. There are many who reinsert the cotton, which will in turn introduce germs into the bottle, possibly making other people sick by contaminating the medicine with the contaminated cotton.

Ooo... yikes. Um, I am not really sure how to break this to you easily... especially if you're a lover of life as I am.

Wow. All right... if you've ever watched ET you've seen the scene where the kid has to kill a frog by dropping an alcohol drenched cotton ball into a glass jar. Well, unfortunately in this situation, that kid didn't make it to the factory in time to let the aspirin free.

When the pills are being moved they can break on each other, so they pack them very tight so the pills wont get hurt. HAHAH lol funny question!
