You would be surprised at how its the totally opposite. The United Kingdom is the biggest investors in the USA's economy and government. I will turn your face to Alabaster/When you find your servant is your master

To the guy who asked, Barmy means behaving strangely/silly. The UK I think will be friends for some time with the USA, although in the future both will make other alliances.

i have always held the opinion that we (the UK) are merely the pawns in this game, should a nuclear war ever kick off, we will be the first target as a warning to the USA, who themselves will choose a small target to show that they mean business.
while europe in general sit back and condemn current actions by ourselves and the USA, had they done as they should have and agreed something had to be done in iraq, all this cr@p would be over with by now.
france and germany control europe and what happens in the 'common market', northern europe and the UK get little or nothing out of it so USA are our best allies at the minute.....instead of people complaining about it all they should realise that if other countries could agree to common aims, then the whole world will be more likely to have peace, but 'leaders' look for any excuse to argue rather than agree.

Not sure what you mean. The husband and wife thing has no relevance to the relationship that exists between the UK and the USA. Both countries believe that terrorism is wrong and that democracy is the best way for a nation to exist. I don't see much wrong with that.

We are tied to the United States, and the ' Special Relationship' is mutually beneficial and as such should be valued and maintained. Personally I am very glad that the most powerful nation in the world is English speaking, and one with which we share so many values. We have our differences, but that is normal with any relationship. We are nevertheless, the junior partner, and sometimes get bullied. Though we do punch many times our weight! Long may it continue!

Just so long as people like you continue to spell Britain with a lower case "b",and USA, with nice, bold capital letters, she will forever remain subordinate!

You Brits have just paid off your World War II debt to the Yanks, unfortunately, they've gotten in the habit of lording it over you in the past 60 years and that will be a hard habit to break (actually, make that an impossible habit to break).

I prefer to think of 'her' as our concubine. They are so much more 'accommodating' than wives!
Seriously, The U.S. and Britain are great allies with a lot of common history and ongoing common ground regarding geopolitical issues. Each of us is lucky to have the other as an ally and friend.

If it suits yes. We have so much in common it would be difficult not to. Lets face it what are the alternatives - love the French or Germans in the same way!

Actually, Britain has never been the "wife", more the mistress, no, whore. Thus we will remain for as long as the U.S. wants to **** us.
