I did invent my own little mnemonic for remembering the carpal bones and what order they're in across the hand:

Sir Lancelot Tried Pulling Trapezes To Capital Hill

for

proximal row: Scaphoid Lunate Triquetral (Pisiform)
distal row: Trapezium Trapezoid Capitate Hamate

You can find similar mnemonics at this site http://www.medicalmnemonics.com/cgi-bin/return.cfm?discipline_id=1&system_id=11&bodypart_id=All&level_lo=All&level_hi=All&clinical=All&hi_yield=All&g_rated=All&language_id=All&numrows=10&rowstart=1&searchbox=&mtype_id=All&orderresultsby=rating

"Never Lower Tilly's Pants, Mother Might Come Home." That helps in recalling navicular, lunate, triquetrum, pisiform, greater Multongular, lesser Multongular, capitate and hamate.
