Yes

It will go the way of Roberts.

Bush will pick a very quailfied man. Liberals will scream and cry in the end the person will be on the court.

There are two sets of standards for the Supreme Court one looks at the qualification the other looks for a way to keep judical activism alive and well.

Most of the justices on the Supreme Court are three days older than God, but I don't see any of them going anywhere soon. They are there until they croak. Who knows, but there is speculation that Chief Justice William Rehnquist was acutely unconscious the last three years of his tenure on the nation's highest court.

As for a showdown, you bet! There will be some fireworks over any new vacancy on the Court; however, I don't see anymore coming until the next president is inaugurated.

I think G. Bush has too much on his plate right now with the Iraq War, his job approval ratings going down, his not dealing with or knowing how to deal with domestic issues to worry about a new Supreme Court Justice.

Yes. This Congress understands what is at stake here and will not approve anyone but a moderate, and Bush will not push a moderate. Big fight coming.
