between 2002-2006 they were appreciating better then homes. but that will change. the market has been over saturated with condo's by builders. there value will probably not appreciate to much in the next year or to but they are easier to rent out then houses.

A lot depends on the quality of the construction, the desirability of the location, the maintenance of the common areas, and the availability of housing in the area.
A well built and maintained condo in a desirable area should appreciate at the same rate as a stick built home.

Depends on where you live. I live in Atlanta and condos are always behind houses. In Chicago it did not matter as much.

There is no overall difference in appreciation potential between the two. Like anything else it depends on location and timing.
