Good move.
Aging LB who can't play like he used to be able too. It was obvious after this season hes only on the decline, signing him to a big money contract like he wanted, would be dumb. Were in a much better cap space situation now and thank the lord. JP was great, but not nearly for as much as he wanted.

Cutting Porter was a salary cap move. His play on the field has dropped some but he can still play at a very high level in this league. I think it was a bad move by the Steelers though, Porter was the voice of that franchise and his teammates thrived off him. It was bad enough they lost other key locker room guys the year before in Bettis, Von Oloffen and Randle El. You might see him end up in Oakland or San Fran or some other team with a lot of cap room. I really don't think Porter would sign with any of his long time enemies in the AFC North Division.

It really doesnt matter who you get. The Bungals are going suck yr after yr. Maybe you can sign a probation officer so the players all don't have to go separately to there meetings. Porter is getting old. I hope he does go to your crap team. He will make the hole in your D even larger. I can't wait till the Steelers knock the Bungles out of the playoffs again. Oh wait, your team probably won't even be in contention for that. Figures a Bungals fan would want an overrated Steeler...

Think of the irony if the Bengals get him and he gets to beat on Big Ben twice a season...
That being said, I'm sure its a money move. With the cap, some really decent players have been waived or traded over the years.
Though, I could see Porter landing in Buffalo if they have the money next season...but I doubt they have the money as it sounds like they're making similar moves due to the cap.

Although Joey was one of my favorite players, us Steelers fans know, as always, there is another Pro Bowler who just needs a chance to show his stuff-JAMES HARRISON. I certainly hope Joey doesn't go to the Bengals or the Ravens though.

He was hurt a lot of last year, was going to hold out and cost them a ton. In addition they are supposed to be working toward a switch to a 4-3 from a 3-4 and in that case, the new coach should have plenty of LB help.
60/40 I guess

probably a money issue but could have something to do with one of the guys who got caught ordering/had 150k worth of hgh...he could either re-sign for less or move to another team but should have some tread left on those tires...

Let go of an all-pro linebacker when the quality of your defense is down from the previous year... very bad move.
