Bob Gibson struck out 17 in the 1968 World Series against the Tigers, the Tigers won the Series, Gibson passed Sandy Koufax who had 16. I know this because I am a huge Cardinals fan. Go Cards!

In game 1 of the 68 World Series, Bob Gibson of the St Louis Cardinals struck out 17 Detroit Tigers and it's still the record. He was very dominating that day to say the least!

Bob Gibson, in 1968 WS against the Tigers. I remember that game! (showing my age..lol)
PS..The Tigers won that series 4 games to 3 after trailing 3 games to 1. Mickey Lolich was the hero winning 3 games. Denny McClain also won 31 games during the regular season. The last person to win over 30 games in a season. Probably will never be done again.
