Get custom made jeans! QVC's Personify Brand is wonderful! Land's End also has custom made jeans. QVC's runs about $58 and Land's End about $80. I am plus size, long legged and short waisted. Off the rack jeans never worked with me. My first custom made pair hooked me - I put them on and they fit perfectly and I never had that happen before. The ordering process was not hard. A couple of measurements and then 4 weeks later a perfect pair of jeans!

I think you'd be better off with a jean with a wider leg at the bottom, this will even your legs out if you have wider hips.
If you have a large rear end(like me, haha) you should go for wide back-pockets that are closer together. Go for a dark wash.
Let me know if this helps you! =)

I'd go with a midrise (not lowrise cause it will make your torso look longer) slight bootcut in a mildly stretchy denim. That way it will cling to your curves, and the bootcut will balance you out a bit. FOr the love of PETE do NOT get tapered jeans...that will make your calves look teeny and your hips wider.
(I'm in the same predicament...so I feel yer pain! :) )

dark wash straight legged, depending on where you shop it can be nearly impossiable to find jeans like this, straight legged jeans look best on almost everyone, but they are the most dificult to find.
