A monkeys noise is called ' Chatter '.
Although there are some species of monkey and ape (difference being, a monkey has a tail and an ape does not), that howl (eg, Howler monkey), and some that sort of bark.
But in general it's called Chatter.

This depends upon the species of monkey. Often, the monkeys most commonly thought of will make a sound which is a variation of a chirp or a screech. Other monkeys have a lower voice, and seem to grunt. Still others make vowel sounds in unusual voices. There have also been apes which have been taught to use sign language to communicate!

They howl, they hoot, and they make noises similar to Paula Abdul on American Idol ("babble babble").
