UNTIL YOU SAY IT WRONG.

The power of the English language and the infinite shades of meaning in the words, allows us to conduct a conversation that is intelligent and meaningful. It's one of the things that seperates us from the apes.

Throwing around big words when the speaker does not really understand the meaning or use of them doesn't impress anyone, it simply puts them back one step closer to the apes...

Not necessarily. If I use specific "big" words correctly in a conversation, I feel as though I've paid attention to words I've read or heard. I will always ask someone what a word means if I don't know, so as I can follow what it is they are conveying (saying).

no, sometimes when I am talking and "big" words spill out, I am temporarily aware of my level of articulation and ease with words, but I never feel "super intelligent".

No, because if you are talking to people who don't understand the words you're using, then you are just wasting your time flapping your gums.
