I had trouble with this, when is it considered no longer bad luck, I'm not normally superstitious but since being pregnant I haven't wanted to jinx a thing. I started buying things around 26 weeks, I ordered the nursery package on the net and was told it would take around 35 days minimum to be sent out so I didn't want to leave it too late, you never know when the baby might want to put in an early appearance!
I'm 30+ weeks now and I still have a few bits to buy but I would say start buying bit by bit now, that'll be easier on you as well. I'm having to go back into town within the next couple of weeks to grab the rest of what we need and the stuff for the hospital bag, I actually wish I'd sorted this earlier.
Good luck

ANYTIME!!!!!! Have Fun! Don't be afraid to buy the larger $ items second hand from your local craigs list (crib/ changing table/dressers/gliders). Don't think that a glider and ottoman is a splurge(you can pick 1 up cheap and it will prove priceless) buy a new mattress and make sure it has atleast 200 coil springs(the firmer the better). don't worry now about a high chair you won't need it for atleast 4-6 mos. Your better off buying 3-6 mos outfits rather than 0-3 mos they will out grow so fast! If you find something you really like online, research to find the best price(don't forget to factor in shipping costs) If you are going to breastfeed.... cheaper is not better when it comes to breast pumps read reviews and choose wisely. We had great success with the dr browns bottles(never had an ear infection) but they are a nightmare to clean. and leak very easily from the nipple if toppled over. Don't waste your $ on a bottle sterilizer Invest in a big pasta pot and boil your bottles and nipples that way. same thing, less mess, and can be used for many other things besides bottles. Oh... neat ideas for modern room decorating-- whatisblik.com has funky wall decals that are easy to put on and easy to take off well worth the splurge! and a heck of alot easier than painting. Congrats and have fun! Oh and lastly check out ebay for baby blankets. There are alot of ladies out there making affordable custom baby blankets with funky fabrics and designs that you just can't find in stores. I hope this has been helpful. Good Luck!

I am sure that someone will be having a baby shower for your new arrival, this is traditionally celebrated. Wait until you have your shower, also I would have whoever is throwing you the shower put in the invitations they mail to buy some clothing 12-18 months, 18-24 months instead of being overwhelmed with newborn to 6 month sized clothing. We tend to get carried away with buying an over abundance of newborn clothing, which sometimes does not get worn by the baby. They grow so fast.
Congratulations to you and Daddy!

I understand how much you're excited but I would advise you from my personal experience to wait. Make a list and give it to your friends and relatives in case if they organising a baby shower for you. Wait until then only afterwards go and buy the rest you need. Don't buy to much clothes cause you'll have a lots presents when baby's born, also they grow so quick it's just sad to see how much unworn clothes you have to give away and it's waist of money as well. Get what you'll need in hospital and first two weeks at home. Be wise don't buy too much things - get what's necessary. Your love - that's what babies need and nothing else.
Best wishes&good luck!

i would start now especially all the big things it does feel ages but its not and if you were to go a little early you don't want to be stressed out in the hospital BUT RELAX don't get to worried everything always falls in to place.
One tip i started then forgot what i was getting when he came i had loads of stuff and would say that 70% of the stuff never got on his back. i actually started changing for the hell of it just to let him get a wear out of it.
And remember once hear you get loads of presents so don't so overboard on the clothes, just make sure you have the essentials. you can always buy more after babys here if you need to.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy enjoy. and hope you have a quick great labour.
If you'd like theres a site that i use its for parents and mums to be lots of lovely people that offer great advice, tips and encouragement maybe check it out. its called positive parenting.

Just buy it in bits and pieces. Remember you wont' need much newborn stuff as they grow out of it pretty quickly but bear in mind the seasons if you're buying ahead. A baby only really needs somewhere to sleep and a big bag for you to put the stuff in, a car seat and a pushchair suitable for newborns. Can I just plug re-usable nappies here. I used them with my daughter and it saved me an absolute fortune. I used the disposables at night and when going out so they were no bother and really are worth it - plus you're saving the planet! We used the Bambino Mios.

start buying now...The first day we found out we were pregnant w/ our daughter in 04 we started getting these right after up til after she was born. It is always good to get prepared. If you dont know what you are having get colors that can go either way...or if you do then get what goes w/ that. Pampers is a good diaper specially the cruiser they go w/ the baby, sensitive wipes are the best as well...good start is a good formula if you arent going to b.feed. and when they start teething get the teething tablets they are natural tablets andhelp better then the gels...have fun and enjoy. we love it and we know also the lost of them as well...happy pregnancy wish you the best... :)

You can start whenever you want, but i wouldn't leave it oo late just incase you we one puts in an early appearance. I started buying things at about 20 weeks. Everytime i went into town i'd pick up a couple of things to save the hassal of having to get it all at once. I usually hate shopping but i really enjoyed buying baby stuff.

Are you having a baby shower? I found that it was best to wait until after that because you'll be surprised at how much you'll get. Then you can focus on what you really need. On the other hand, if you see an adorable outfit that you just have to have, go for it.
