I have extremely irregular periods. I have even gone 2+ years without one! I know it is caused by a hormonal imbalance because I am overweight and I know from experience that if I lost weight, my period would come back. That being said, for the past year and a half my husband and I have been having sex and I have not gotten pregnant. If I am not having a period, does that mean I am not ovulating? Is there a chance I could get pregnant without having a period? It's tough because since I don't get a normal period, I would have no idea I was pregnant. I get cravings or tender breasts and think I may be but I don't even know if it's possible?

Had full blood panel for PCOS as well as external and internal ultrasounds. Completely ruled out. Thyroid is fine. The ONLY reason I don't have periods is because of hormonal imbalance caused by my weight. That was proven when I lost weight, maintained it for a year and had a period every 3 weeks during that year. The cause of my irregular period isnt the question. I wanna know if I can still get pregnant without it.

Yes, not having a period means you're not ovulating and it is highly unlikely, if not impossible, to get pregnant. I was in the exact same situation as you, but I was only 15 pounds overweight so I didn't think weight was the issue. We tried to get pregnant for 2 full years, with no luck, even tried several rounds of Clomid. Then, when we moved to a new city and I had to walk a lot and suddenly lost 15 pounds, my period came back within a month and stayed regular. Three months after that we got pregnant! Losing weight seems like the hardest thing, I know, but for a baby, believe me, it's worth it!! For us it was the only think that worked, it may be for you too. Good luck!

With irregular periods, the challenge is to know when you're ovulating. If you don't have a condition like PCOS that can cause issues with ovulation, have you talked to your about what causes the irregular periods-other things besides PCOS can cause them, and whether using a combination of medications like provera and clomid might help you?
I know you say you've "been tested" for PCOS, but make sure that it was complete-health history, glucose tolerance, blood work that measures testosterone, FSH, LH, and so on, as well as ultrasound to look for cysts. Cysts aren't a required part of the diagnosis though...strange as it seems, it's possible to have PCOS without ovarian cysts. Also, a full thyroid panel is probably not a bad idea-thyroid issues can cause menstrual irregularities as well.
Good luck

It sounds like you have PCOS. If you ovulate, it would be followed by period, usually 10 - 17 days after with the norm being 14. If you are not having periods then it means you have not ovulated. However, it doesn't mean that you won't ovulate.
Overweight women with PCOS usually resume normal periods after losing weight. I think this is your best bet. You should see a reproductive endocrinologist and maybe start taking metformin.

while you at the instant are not having sessions, you at the instant are not ovulating. you should get a ordinary cycle going. maximum situations delivery administration pills will start up your sessions while you at the instant are not getting them. i could certainly take the vitamines, they are solid for you. however the 1st subject i could do is bypass to a distinctive wellbeing care provider. Ask them approximately beginning you on some delivery administration pills. Oh and the vitamines won't make you benefit weight.
