In Wicca (which I do practice) there is a three-fold rule that whatever you put out in the Universe will come back to you three times more than what you sent out.
Always send out good intentions and you will be blessed three times more with good intentions, but if you send out bad intentions, this will also come back to you three-fold.
On a side note: "Charmed" (the TV series) used "the power of three" to represent the Halliwell Sisters - who, in the series were witches, that their most powerful strength was in "the power of three, which was all of the three sisters together, combining their different magickal powers together as one".
