Im planning on buying a 22 inch widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050. Is this a good resolution to play games on? Will alot of games support this? Any information on widescreens and resolution would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Each monitor has one best resolution suggested by the manufacture. But I usually set the resolution that makes fonts big enough for me to read. If the font is too small, your eyes will be very tired, and lead to near-sighted.

1680x1050 is a good resolution for most things. Gaming is one of them. I would look for a monitor in that size range that will do 1900x1080 this is a true HD image. monitors can do it they are just a bit more in price but well worth the extra money. but the one you are looking at will do you just fine. most games will support high resolution as long as you have a powerful CPu and video card to go with that nice monitor.

hmm.. i like the first resolution of each monitor. if u want 1680x1050 buy 19, if u want something bigger buy 23, because 23 comes with 1920x1200 . i have 8800gtx and its a lot of fun to play cs on 24 : ) u will find that 16x10 will look "funny" on 22. added. heres the idea, as the resolution stays the same, but the screen size grows, the pixel will become bigger, thats why the native for 19 is 19x10 but 19x10 for 22 will look worse than 19.

The graphics card is really what matters...the higher the resolution, the more video power you need. That video card should work perfectly fine for that resolution. If not, you can just change the game's resolution settings to a lower one...that will not change your Windows resolution setting.
