Why do you even ask this question? You'll never get an unbiased answer. Except from me. First of all for the ones who say Jordan can even beat Kobe now are idiots. If he's that good now, then how come he couldn't get the Wizards to the playoffs in the Eastern conference? Second of all, Jordan is not a better one on one defender than Kobe just because he won a defender of the year award. Who was he guarding? What other 2-guards were there besides Clyde Drexler? People's dislike for Kobe and love for Jordan will never get you a viable answer from most people. One on one Kobe would win out of a best of three or best of five. If it was just one game, either on could win depending who's on their game more that day. Either way it would close. No blowouts

MJ would beat Kobe for two reasons. First, Jordan is a better one-on-one defender. He won defensive player of the year before the league changed it's defensive rules to allow match-up zones. He would stick to Kobe like glue and outmuscle him down low. Second, Jordan is mentally tougher and more competitive. Even on a bad day, he would find a way to win through sheer willpower.

Prime, it's gonna be Jordan. It's MJ's defense that would spell the difference. He has better chances of stopping Kobe than the latter stopping him.

Kobe has better skills than Jordan. Jordan won more championships because he had a better team and his leadership is better, but Kobe has a better shot than Jordan.
