Only your friend knows why she was being cold. Maybe she was mad at you, or maybe she was worried or angry about something else that has nothing to do with you (perhaps she was fighting with her son, or perhaps she got a disturbing phone call from home).

If you are worried that she is upset at you, then why don't you give her a call and ask (Matthew 5:23-25)? We don't know her, so we cannot tell you what she was thinking.

I'm sure that you were as nice to them as you could have been, under the circumstances. She must have known, coming in, that you had a very full schedule with school and work. I don't understand why she would have acted cold to you--she can't have expected you to have stayed home from work or school to be with them.

I don't really understand what you mean about your apartment not being comfortable--I'm sure that there was, at least, somewhere for them to sleep. I assume that they had enough food to eat, so I can't figure out what the problem could have been.

Maybe you should phone the girl, and see how she reacts to your call. Perhaps she just wasn't feeling well when she left. Maybe she did expect you to spend more time with them--but she should not have--knowing of your obligations.

It was nice of you to let them stay at your home :)

It doesn't sound like you were rude at all. Most of us cannot afford to stay home from school and work, and she should understand that.

I will assume that you provided her with the basics - a warm welcome, an invitation to make herself at home, and access to meals (even if very simple). If so, she had no reason to be upset.
