a baking-soda based toothpaste works pretty good. But since (i assume) the toy is electric and has parts that would be affected if you left dried toothpaste on it, the next step would be to rinse it off using an electronic contact cleaning spray (you can find this at Radio Shack or many hardware stores.
If you do use water to rinse it, only use distilled water. It will leave no residue that could short electronic circuits. But make sure you give it several days to dry. The contact cleaner will dry much faster and is designed not to short circuit.

I will add one more thing to this. If the toys are electronic and the acid got inside, throw them away. Acid will corrode all of the electronics.

Same way you get build up off your battery, you have to neutralize the compunds BEFORE you wash it down the sink....try some soda then soap and water
