Just by staying at the Argonaught, you will be really close to the major tourist attractions; Pier 39 ( you can get a ferry tour of SF here as well as Alcatraz tickets but be sure to purchase in advance online or something, they always sell out on busy days), Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, and you are right by many good restaurants. If you want to travel a bit further, head to Coit Tower, Chinatown, Downtown, and on your way back to the hotel, catch the Cable Car- it will bring you 1 block away from your hotel. If you like, you can also spend 1 day driving up to Napa and stopping by a small city called Sausalito right before you cross the Golden Gate Bridge back to SF. Feel free to email me if you want to know more....I was born and raised in SF so I know where to go. Have FUN!

You should go, San Francisco is a great city to visit even you are only there for a day or two. And you will be in a good location to do all the tourist, sight seeing type stuff too; right next or close by the cities major attractions. You can easily hop on a ferry nearby and go to Alcatraz or Angel Island. You're near Pier 39, on the waterfront, ect... If you go i'm sure you'll have a great time and probably will want to spend a few more days there.

3 days is enough, SF is a small place, visit the Alcatraz and Napa Valley for wine tasting. That's it, that's all you can do. And ride that cable car. Actually, you can do everything in 1 day.

The weather should be better than Chicago. The Chinatown is bigger by far in SF than anywhere else. It's right downtown, you can't miss it.

Go for it, live on the edge, you only live once. You might regret it.
