i read the book last year in one of my classes, but im not too sure of the meaning of the meteor. i believe that we came to the conclusion of the meaning to be the decline of the ethics in town or something. but like i said, im not too sure about that. if you havn't already, you should check out sparknotes.com to verify the answer.
