Where was Sacha Baron Cohen during the Oscars?

They only showed him once, shortly, on camera during the show. Couldn't they have shown more since his movie was so popular?

He was asked to present as himself. He wanted to present in character, but the Academy said no, so he refused to present at all. They were probably miffed at his turndown, and he received little camera time as a result.

You know, I only saw him a few times, but I found him so genuinely offensive that I never want to see him again.
