Well, I'd say that Tennessee and North Carolina would have the highest chance (besides Portland, Oregon) to grab a transplant team like Tampa, Toronoto or KC, so it's possible.

Let's see - names:
The Tennessee Volunteers
The Nashville Smokies
The Memphis Blues
The Blue Ridge Mountaineers (or just the Tennessee Mountaineers)
The Chattanooga Express

By the way :"Nashville Cats" is by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful.

Sorry for the corny stuff!

The "SMOKEY'S" team in Knoxville is now a part of the Chicago Cubs. But I'm a White Sox fan so who cares.Knoxville could not support a major league team. The team would need 15 to 20 thousand fans per game to support it.Nashville would also be to small. It really takes a large city with a large population to even be considered by a major league franchise.

If you mean MLB team, no, probably not. If they did, the name could be something like Rebels or Rebs or something of that nature, or music inspired, like the Sounds are now.

Edit: OG, there is already a Nashville Cats, or more accuratly, Nashville Kats, an AFL team co-owned by country music star Tim McGraw.

I'm willing to bet that Los Angeles will get a NFL Team before Tennessee will ever get a baseball team.

But if they did how about the Vols!

MLB does have intentions of getting a pro team in Nashiville. I would call them the Nashville Cats after the old Ray Stevens Song of the same name and they could use it as their theme song.

Probably not... but you never know.
I just don't think it's that big in baseball and for the proposal of a team to already have been turned down, I don't think they'd consider another time.

But... I could definetly be wrong, but that's just my opinion.

i dont think so...at least not anytime soon considering the MLB is in really good shape (not drug wise) and they already have 30 teams and i dont think they'll be adding more anytime soon...maybe in 15-20 years.

It makes more sense to have them there than in Florida where no one even goes to the games
