having worked in a body shop and actually having applied those large wood grain stickers like on the old wagons or now on the PT cruisers the only way to do it without messing up is to mist the whole area with a dilute soap and water solution. this enables the sticker to slide until proper alignment is made and then you slowly work from one side to the other (or top to bottom) depending on size of sticker with a rubber squeegee to remove air bubbles and set the sticker in place.

The best way is to peel back a corner (for a smaller sticker) or an inch of backing (for a larger decal). Then carefully position the sticker without allowing the sticky part to touch until the sticker is in position. Then press the sticky part down carefully, reach under the sticker and slowly peel a small portion of the backing off, smoothing down the sticker as you go, running your fingers back-and-forth from the most recently stuck portion down to the backing. Keep going section-by-section until you're done. Be careful to hold the decal up a bit so it doesn't "grab" the surface you are sticking it to until you smooth it into place.

Dawn and water. Fill a squirt bottle with about 3/4ths water and add about five drops of dishwashing soap. shake it just a little and remove the backing from your decal. Spray the sticky side of the decal and the surface you are applying it to and place the decal on. The soapy solution allows you to move the decal and position it perfectly, then just lightly press a credit card or rubber spatula from one side to the other to remove the bubbles and water! Allow to dry for a few hours, and it will be bubble free.

When applying a decal, make sure the surface is clean and free of grease or oil. Lightly mist the surface with a spray bottle. Apply decal and use a window squegee to gently remove all the air bubbles. This method works every time.

- Peel it off its backing.
- Put one corner of the sticker/decal where it is supposed to go, and then lay it down smoothly from there.
- You can use your finger to smooth out any bubbles as you go.
- Be careful to lay it down smoothly, not too fast or slow so you get wrinkles and bubbles.
- After it is down, if there are bubbles, you may be able to smooth them out with your fingers or a brush. Start in the center and push them out the edges.
- Depending on the size and thickness of the sticker, you could use a knife or ruler or other hard, straight item to smooth it, too.
- Hope this helps.

Peel the backing slowly as you apply the decal or sticker, don't peel it off first then apply. Use a damp (not wet or dripping) sponge and smooth out the decal as you go. If you do get tiny air bubbles, pop them with a pin and smooth them again with the sponge. Good luck!

ive found the only way to do this is to spray a LIGHT coat of glass cleaner down where you want the sticker to be this will allow you to move the decal around to the desired position and remove any air pockets. the glass cleaner will have no effect on the adhesive after it dries.

After you apply the sticker use a small roller or a glass, and roll it over the sticker.

Take a ruler and press it up against the object as it's going down to prevent bubbles as you apply it.
