Doesn't he think their lives are unpleasant enough right now?

I'm serious; Bush hardly has a good track record dealing with natural disasters, and the Republican party is pretty vocal about not wanting to give federal money to victims of things like this... so why is he going?

For PR reasons, I assume. Maybe he thinks that he can fool at least a few people into believing that he gives a rats behind about any of us common folk!!!!

And I bet that, he would be slammed by the left if he did not go. Classic example of the lefts Hypocrisy. He goes the same reason Clinton did and every other president does. If there was a way to blame the tornados on him there would be a post....

PR I would imagine. Traditionally, the president visiting sites of destruction serves to uplift the spirits of those who have been affected by tragedy, reassuring them that everything is going to be alright.

If you witnessed the Katrina disaster, it is relatively obvious why he got down there and took care of those people. I applaud him for it. I don't expect our leader to be perfect, just to learn from past mistakes.

That is his job. He loves the people of America, and knows that some of them suffer. I ask you, what would you say about him if he didn't? That would be like saying F you, losers, I don't care about you! Duh, the man cares, and was there to give his support. He, as president also needs to assess damages, to fix them. Good on him!
