I've seen a couple of 530's with the 166's. When I called my local BMW dealer, they said that since the size of the 166's is 19 inches, and I currently have 18 inch wheels, it would be not be possible to have 166's on my 550. Obviously, since the size of the 166's is an inch larger, I'll need new tires as well, but is it even possible to have 166's on a 550?

Sure, it will work. There are other 8.5x19 and 9.5x19 wheel styles for E60's, no real reason why 166's won't go on your car. Just double-check the offset, but I don't imagine that would be a problem. Go find a dealer with a little imagination, if you are buying original BMW wheels, they should be happy to help you out, given the amount of heavily-marked cabbage you will be handing over to get wheels and tires for your car.

yes IT IS POSSIBLE THE DEALER JUST HAS TO BE CAREFUL WHAT THEY TELL THE CUSTOMER. Most dealers really don't deal with anything that isn't factory it just presents a liabitly to them. so yes if they put 24's on a chrysler 300 you can certainly put 19 inch wheels on you 550i. Essentailly the M5 is the same car just add a v-10 and bigger brakes and wheels and some suspension but your car shares many parts with an m5

Absolutely. In fact, my cousin has a 550i and got the M5 wheels, and of course, as you mentioned, a change of tires is needed.

Nice ride though! I love the 550i, the power is phenomenal.. its 360hp right? ... and to think the previous generation M5 had only 40hp more..

Good luck!
