I would check online first. It is easiest to compare cost, size, color, and style. If you can't buy it online, at least check to see if there are any retailers near where you live.
Also, if you want to make a fasion statment about your bag, Spring is here, which means that beach bags start appearing on shelves. My book bag is a Roxy beach bag I found at Nordstrom on sale last summer. You'd be suprised what you can use for a book bag if you keep your eyes open!

If you want cheap, go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. But if you can spend big bucks then try E-bay or Amazon.com if you can't find it at the stores.
