Anybody have any good house cleaning tips? How can I get my 6 year old boy & 7 year old girl to help with the house work?

every day my children the same age have chores to do. they may not be much or done exactly right but they have them. some examples are dust, swiffer, clean windows doors and moldings. water the dogs, feed the cats ect. I write it on their dry erase and they do it. I do chores Its our house everyone lives in it everyone can do something to help

I try to give "easy" jobs to my 8yr old but still ones that help ME out!!
For example, I will give her a cup of soapy warm water and a toothbrush and have her clean my tile and around my sink edges and nozzle. Or I will give her my 409 cleaner and a wet rag and have her wipe down all the counter fronts. One that she especially likes doing (which is one I especially DONT like doing) is getting under the dining room table and dusting the legs of all the chairs. I also have her dust the window sills and any ledges.
I think giving chores to our kids is a great idea - no child is too small to help out, you just have to tailor the chore to the age!

Kids love to clean with these...
We buy this cleaning cloth off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve

When my brother and I were about that age, after waxing the floor Mom would let us slide around on it on cloths to polish it. We were also allowed to help out with the laundry folding (but no ironing), and of course clean off the batter from the spatula and lick the bowls. You can bet we always wanted to help out!
It was even more fun than when Dad let us sweep up the sawdust in his workshop!

Just make it a fun chore! My girls know that they'll earn something if they help...also, chart their chores and what they can earn whether it's money or other type of incentive! It works for me! :)

make it a game. have little baseball stickers/cutouts and little dolls, etc. and they earn their sticker for each chore they do. when they complete their 3 chores they earn 1/2 hour tv or whatever they want to do

by putting your foot down after you take it out their butt...if you know what i mean. they will clean then, their butt may hurt, but the house will be clean. if that dont work, still put your foot in their butt and take everything away from them, EVERYTHING!
