Too many variables to answer that question shortly. Inside the fan canopy, which is where the wiring connection was made there were probably three wires to connect. A black, white and blue. The electrical box that you hung it from could have almost any number of wires but typically two or three that you should be concerned with. a white, hopefully, but it could also be gray. and two other wires thier color could be the same or different. all that you are concerned about is that the wire is turned on by the switch. and there could be two switches. the best bet is that if your fan works by the switch. connect both the blue (light), and the black (fan), from the fan to the wire that seems to be working with the switch. You should be fine. then its just a matter of making sure the light bulbs are actually good and also seated all the way in thier sockets. good luck.

If field is troublesome fastened to a ceiling joist its ok, if its fastened to a board it fairly is administered flat between 2 joists, its much extra useful. in case you desire to do it the 2d way, it oftentimes demands crawling during the attic and mounting a 2x4 with a hollow drillied via so which you would be able to pull wires. be sure you positioned the 2x4 intense adequate so the backside fringe of field is flush with sheetrock or ceiling end textile. If youre not waiting to, then you definately can consistently patch sheetrock once you have performed the artwork from below. If that's a small fan it fairly is going to likely be ok stunning from a field it fairly is fastened into the component of a ceiling joist.

it may be the switch in your fan that turns the light on and off, the switches are sold in most hardware or dept stores, they have a chain on them and are fairly easy to change, just remember to shut the current going to the fan off to prevent electric shock.

shut the power off to the fan first, take it apart, check for loose wires, if all is OK, you may have a defective lamp holder. if you purchased it not to long ago, see if you can exchange it for a another new one.
