deer crouch down underneeth the bushes for a lot of the time ,that is when you dont see them
and that is what they do when they sleep or when it rains
but animals are not as worried about rain as we are.many wil graze quite happily in the rain ,depending ofcourse on the type of rain.if it storms they hide.

anywhere really. most deer have a "home" that they return to, which is usually a dense area of bushes and trees called a thicket. Deer have lived outside thier whole life, and rain doesnt really bother them. If its a major storm, they just hunker down in the grass under the bushes and trees.

Have you ever hidden in bushes/trees when its raining outside? I have (long story) and they make a pretty good shelter.

Depends. If they are in a forest they will get under trees or brush. If they are in the plains they just get down on the ground, like any large animal that does not burrow.

Thickets like cedars or just big bushes. It is true they do sleep in the open but I have rarely seen whitetail do this. I use to track them for monitoring.
