What type of car?

Break the cheapest window, (probably one of the rear door windows) with a stone or something heavy. Use a screwdriver or knife to turn the motor off. With the broken part of the key still in the ignition you should be able to do this easily.

If that doesn't work, open the hood (or bonnet) - Pull the center wire from the distributor, (follow one of the spark plug wires back to find the round cap with the spark plug wires and the center high voltage wire.) This will stop the engine. Put some superglue on the end of the key that broke off and carefully press it against the part of the key in the lock for about 5 minutes, when it holds by itself leave it for about another ten minutes, then turn it off and pull it out.

Take both parts to a place that cuts keys and they should be able to make a new one for you.

I am sorry, but I am only laughing at you on the inside.

Thanks for reminding me about the older ladies that got locked insided their car because the battery went dead. Cop had a heck of time trying to get them to maunally unlock the door. I laughed for days.

Call a 24-7 locksmith to open the door. If you have a newer car with a key fob that will unlock the door with a transmitter call someone who may have access to the spare fob. Tell them to depress the fob to open the doors and place it near the phone and keep your cell phone close enough to your car to open the door. It should work to open the door.
I was told by a few friends that this does work.
good luck..........
