I've got a problem with my Menvier TS400 house alarm and the external siren was sounding for no reason(the user code wouldn't deactivate it). I cut the mains power to the alarm and its now running on battery power. I want to compleatly de-activate the alarm so it won't ever go off, how do i achieve this?

The sounder in the outside box will be running on a backup battery that is in place in case the mains power fails. The good news is that it is charged from the mains supply. If you have disconnected the mains power from the alarm circuit the battery will, eventually, die.

If you can't wait that long remove the battery from the sounder box. Take care though, a microswitch on the external housing will activate the alarm when the cover is removed. If you are up a ladder when it goes off it will be ear-splittingly loud and will make you jump. Make sure you are ready for it and do not fall off. After that simply cutting through the wire to the battery will kill the alarm stone dead. Just keep the box as a visual deterrent or remove, fill the hole the wire came from and repaint if needed.

Hi Pariah
Take the fuse out of the 240v mains spur outlet ( this is the plate where the main cable feeds in from & often has a little red light to visually show it is on ) this will kill the mains feed.
Next, open the box by removing the coverplate screws & disconect the spade end cables from the back-up battery,
Job done
If you are never going to use it again you may want to remove the sounder ( normally red or grey bell ) from the top of the wall, & cables as well, but then you may have to repaint the bit of wall, from where they have been removed.

How about you just cut the wires to the siren? Then even it it does activate, nobody can hear it.
