I think we're obsessed, but I think it's necessary since there's so much unhealthy junk food around, a sedentary lifestyle and a lot of fat people in America.

Well, there is a serious issue around weight in the US. I mean, there are many people who are seriously overweight - it's a real health problem.
Dieting isn't the answer, but all that focus on ways to loose weight does show that the issue is (rightly) in people's minds. Unfortunately the answer is likely not in trying to get individual people to go on diets - but to get more staircases and less elevators - that sort of thing. The whole culture has to change in terms of what kinds of foods are 'normal' to eat, how to create buildings and suburbs where people will automatically walk places etc.

I could care less, because it does not effect me. Just don't come looking for any kind of special accomodations because of your weight, unless you have a doctors note stating you are that way due to an uncontrolable illness, and I don't count eating too much as an illness!
I say forget about dieting, then the fat people can just continue dying at an accelerated rate due to illness that result because of their being overweight. That just leaves more food, space, and oxygen for me and the rest of the country that has enough self control to stop eating before they can't fit out the door.

No. A lot of people DO need to lose weight. The problem is, most people are either not motivated enough to do it or they go about it the wrong way. I think we hear too much about fad diets and I think the media often promotes unrealistic expectations of appearance, but I don't think we hear enough about how to be healthy.

No, I don't think it obsesses. I think there are too many obese people in this country and it's very unhealthy. It causes early death and all sorts of other problems like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, high cholesterol...the list goes on. Why would a person want to continue living like that? It's not a physical disability, it's in their head. They chose to eat that much, and they can chose to stop. Weight loss is easy if you want to do it. It's as simple as that.

No. America makes it to easy to be obese, and to hard to exercise. We Americans get so used to being able to take short cuts, a lot of people just assume they can take short cut in their health . Whether its gaining muscles (steroids), weight loss (crash diets, pills, lypo), or eating healthy (no fast food is gunna be healthy -sorry). It disgusts me to see so many people stop eating, when if they decided to put a little effort in, they could loose the pounds healthily with a little exercise and healthy eating.
That being said, you seem to think that your weight is fine. I'm not sure how over weight you are, but as long as your healthy, I see no problem with this. Just remember, each time you exercise, or make a healthy food decision- your adding time to your life, not anyone else's, yours.

Well, if it is not the models and stars who are so anorexic they are about to blow away, then its oh my you are overweight. Yes, people are obsessed with weight loss, good or bad. The weight loss commerical I hate is the one where she says I went from a size 10 to a size 4 on ......blah blah program. That says anorexic to me. Look at the models from Van Gogh and other early artists, they are quite...shall we say....chunky. And it was okay then, so it should be okay now.

I don't think we should be obsessed with weight loss but there are alot of fat people in our country. The reason we hear so much about fat loss methods is because someone is making a bunch of money off of it. They really don't care if we are fat or not they just want our money.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!
