i have been looking at buying a shuttle pc, i was looking at a customers earlier today & was impressed, when i asked the customer about it he said it was rubbish & had gone wrong 3 times in 12months, is this common or did he have a rogue one

It's pretty nice because it's SO small I love it :) I was able to put it on my computer desk and still have it look clean and neat and nearly wire-free. I wouldn't recommend it if you're going to do hardcore gaming and media. I'm enjoying it nonetheless even if I am watching HD-quality videos and other what nots.
That's my opinion atleast, if you like a small computer then go for it!
