How far do you think Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins, will go? He's already gone far, but do you think he'll become as great as the legends and modern day heroes?

Joe Mauer deinatley had a tremendous year last year putting up some incerdible stats such as batting .347 on the year and also and knocking in 84 rbi's. But with the Twins all-around lineup with guys likes Morneau who won MVP honors last year and ace Johan Santana, i like the Twins chances to go deep into the playoffs

I think Mauer has the possibility to become one of the great catchers. He has great batting mechanics and a great eye for balls and strikes. Although I think it would take a lot to put him in a legends or heroes category. First, he's a catcher, nowadays in baseball the main focus of the catcher is usually defense, so catcher's don't get as much respect offensively. Also, he's on the Minnesota Twins. Maybe if it were a bigger market, but being on a team like the twins doesn't give him that good of chance of easily becoming known world-wide. Finally, most catcher's play less games than other position players, so therefore he will have less at bats which may help his average but will hurt him because of the fact that he will have less opportunities for home runs and RBIs. Despite this I think Mauer has the skills to possibly become one of the best catchers in the history of baseball. Just the same, he's only had one really good year, so he could just as easily fall off the table.

DL is the disabled record. It opens up a gap on the 25 guy roster so as that they could call up a guy from the minors to take his spot. he's eligible to return off 15 days after he went on. i think of Mauer is in all hazard the appropriate catcher interior the interest stunning now. he's already have been given a batting call and the skill will are available time. he's have been given the makings of a gold glover at the back of the plate in the event that they shop him there. there has been talk of shifting him to a distinctive place interior the previous to attempt to maintain him healthful and not tire him out on the top of the year. The Twins are a good team this year, yet they omit Liriano interior the rotation. without him i think of they are going to fall wanting the playoffs this season.

Mauer is amazing. He's only going to get better. It's just a shame he gets overlooked in favor of the dime a dozen 30 homerun guys. As a catcher, he's the best pure hitter in baseball. McCann is a close second and keep your eye on Chris Iannetta, who can put up huge numbers in Colorado in a few years.

This is a big year for Joe. He has to produce on the same level as he did last year or it was all for naught. His last year was awesome and he outshone some great players in taking the batting crown. Lets see if he's not a one season wonder.

Is he going to hit .347 every year>not likely

Is he going to become a better all-around offensive player>you can bet the farm on it

This kid has great physical tools and more important the head to get the most out of his talent.

In 15 years we may be calling him the greatest left handed hitting catcher of all time, supplanting Yogi Berra.

No year is bigger than this upcoming season because of the outstanding season he had last year. He now has to PROVE, that last year was not a "Fluke" and also show what everyone expects.

I say the same to Morneau as well, winning MVP means he has to PROVE that it was not a "Fluke" year.

he'll be great but a few things working against him. don't expect him to catch his whole career and stay that productive. he has a huge frame for today's mlb catchers. he'll probably make a move to first alot sooner than most other catchers do.

Of Course he will.

It would be nice if he stayed with Minnesota his whole career too.
