Because most of the communist countries have failed. One proud communist though is Hugo Chavez, but he's a loon too.

The reason there are very few if any proud communists anymore is because communism failed miserably. The reason there is such a negative stigma on it was the manner in which it came into being, the promises they made to people and the way the people were treated.

The United States is the only country where there is a negative stigma attached to communism - even in the ex soviet states, communist parties are still very much active and proliferate poltically. Hugo Chavez is proud, as is Castro. North Korea is as proud as it gets, and they are crazy like a fox.
The shining example would be China, where Mao's version of communism has not only worked, it seems as if it will be in effect for centuries, although, the Chinese record on personal liberties and civil rights leaves a lot to be desired.

If you take a look around you, I think you will see that America is taking on the traits of a Communist country. However I don't think you will find many who will be proud of this fact. It was only those who were in Russia that were proud of being communists.
I think this is because no matter what our race, religion or ethic background we try to take pride in ourselves. Russia lived with communists for a great many years and as results I believe that they just ignored the insults of others by taking pride in who they were as a people.

What does a communist have to be proud of? They don't do anything for themselves, they wait for the government to give them only what the government deems necessary for them. They have jobs, only because they work FOR their government, not to become better, and achieve more than their two cows, like everybody else has. They have no incentive to gain more than a simple life for themselves, and their children. They wait in a 2 mile line for bread. They have a beggars life, so again, what do they have to be proud of?

Even Marx in his writings said it would not work because the people would eventually raise up against it. Do a little more reading. Communism is responsible for more deaths of the people that suffered under it and is responsible for more deaths than any other form of government in recorded history.

It has been proven to be a broken system that runs contrary to human nature and, in my opinion, basic human rights. Anyone hanging on to the antiquated idea that communism can work is clearly an ignorant individual who shouldn't be paid any heed.

China is a shining example of successful communism? That's silly. As China's economy has become more capitalist, it has built more wealth.

Because the Marxist form of government is only good in theory.
As a concept it sounds wonderful, however, the practical application of it failed miserably.
