I don't know why but Arachnaphobia always makes me jump. I think its because the "monsters" portrayed in this movie are very real.

As for Hills Have Eyes, that movie was more gory then creepy, but I won't watch it again. There was a scene in there that I didn't particularly care for.

While we're on the subject of scariest movies ever, I had heard that IT was the one of the scariest movies ever. I think that's mostly because people snuck around and watched it when they were still quite young. I finally got around to watching that movie yesterday (I am in my early 20s, by the way) and I wasn't quite so rattled as I thought I would be. I think it's simply because I am an adult instead of a kid. But, I could see where people might get scared and become afraid of clowns. I certainly found him more comical then anything. I just thought I would put my two cents in.

The hills have eyes is gory, not scary! Gotta go with Silence of the Lambs. Reason was Anthony Hopkins was chilling. War of the Worlds (even though the ending kinda sucked), because the performances, music, and imagery was pressing. Finally, The Exorcist. Because it was based on a real case.

haemoglobin when i was about 7/8 the creatures that lived under ground really freaked me out.
Freaks an old black and white film was scary too as they used real circus freaks (the last film where they where allowd to use real freaks)
the hills have eyes is not very scary but good on the gore factor

I didn't really like the hills have eyes that much.
the scariest movie I ever saw was " The exorcism of Emily Rose"
That movie freaked me out because exorcisms are just creepy.
Oh and another really freaky movie was "White Noise". This one was scary because stuff like that could really happen.

Twin Peaks- Fire Walk With Me. It's not jumpy scary- which I think is only good in the theatre. It's psychologically scary and creepy and weird. Ahh. I get the chills just thinking about it.
Just prepare yourself for some REALLY bad acting.

My wife would say "The Grudge" (Sarah Michelle Gellar) She now won't go up in the loft and won't watch any more horror films with me. It was pretty scary. My favourite films at mo would be the SAW series. Nothing really scares me now but when i was younger, in early teens It took me three atempts to watch Aliens. suspence of it **** me right up. Also you can't beat the Nightmare on Elm Street series.

The original Japanese version of 'The Ring'. I worked nights at the time and whenever I had to go alone to an empty part of the building I would be checking behind me in case Sadako was there. I was 31 at the time!

The Ring (the original version). I watched it in a dark room with some friends in high school and it scared the living daylights out of me, especially when she comes out the tv and its all disjointed, it's just so unnerving.
I had to sleep with the light on and the tv turned away for a week afterwards.
