Never add water to soup for that reason....
Adding more water to the soup will only make the soup go bland... If you have an unexpected visitor for dinner perhaps you should serve extra side like salad, rolls. You can even apologize to them for not having enough food.
Never add water to soup unless you need to thin it out for seasoning reasons. When you add water to soup after you are done cooking it you will risks losing quality and taste.

Nope. I just either wait until they leave to serve up the food, or if it is obvious that they are gonna stay, I would just tell them it is potluck and drag the leftovers, etc out of the fridge. We would have an informal smorgasbord.

No. I say," Where would everybody like to go to eat?" That usually makes them say, "Oh, sorry, is it your dinner time? We should go" Unless I have a pan of lasagne in the oven---cause that will always feed a few extra people.

well i'd have to add something... maybe i would toast up some garlic bread or somthing to go with it.
best bet, along with water, a couple more cubes of bullion, and a couple cans of veggies should do the trick.

NO. I just wait until they leave. Better still I tell them that we were about to have dinner so they get the hint and leave. Otherwise you get uninvited guests at dinner time all the time.

Nope. Just ask them if they want to eat a bowl of cereal. It was rude of them to show up without letting us know so if they want to eat then they can either have a bowl of cereal or call and order a pizza

lol, yea, having memories about Pre school when i used to feel sad when my soup or pepsi was going to end so i used to sneak and add water on them so that it doesn't finish!!!!!
