That is of course a blanket question. It isn't everybody who can't accept their real age. Some people are vain so they don't want to be perceived as older. Others may feel like they haven't accomplished what they set out to do when they were younger. Saying how old they are might be an unpleasant reminder. When you get older, the wee youngins like to tease you incessantly. You can't kill all of them, much like cockroaches.
So it's a matter of insecurity in some sense that some can't handle. I for one and proud to be in my 30s because I've earned it. To each his own, but your question doesn't apply to all.

Many people do not accept their age because they do not accept them selves. Society tells them you have to be this or that or you are not as valuable as someone who is this and that. Many people would rather believe in a comforting lie than accept the truth, that with every day they are closer and closer to death. The problem began when people started to believe death was a bad thing to experience.

I accept my age. It's really unimportant to me, but other people make an issue out of it once you reach a certain age. We can't stay young forever.

My grandmother used to say that it's better than the alternative. I suppose it is but I hate the fact that it has gotten so hard to get a date. After a certain age men start to act like you are invisible.

Because they do not appreciate their life. Every day as well as every year is a gift, why hide your blessing? Many people die young, so to be embarrassed of living long enough to reach a mature age is foolish. Be thankful for every year that you receive.

Mostly because of the way our society is. Being older isn't an honor like in other cultures, in our culture it is viewed as ugly and as people age they are viewed as being weak. It's really quite sad.
