Maybe the reason he hasn't been caught is lack of awareness. He could be your kids teacher or school bus driver. He could be anywhere. Maybe, just maybe someone will watch that movie and say "mmm, isn't Harvey next door a lot like this guy?"
I'm not saying this is a multi-million dollar crime stoppers but bringing awareness to an unsolved crime is far better than pretending it didn't happen. Besides, we are the same people who paid to watch movies of September 11th only a few years after it happened.

That was like our local serial killer. He was never caught, had been killing since about 1974. They finally caught him! Maybe you've heard of him, BTK.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this last night. If this guy is still alive and kicking it is a good possibility that he will strike again.

I think it is a terrible idea. The ironic thing is that he always thought there would be a movie made about him. In a letter to the police, he said, "I wonder who will play me". Isn't that creepy!

Would it really matter? I mean, people know about him and have known about him for years. Him or a copycat could decide to start up at any time - movie or no movie.

No, I think that if anything, it could do some good - if people know he is out there, someone might see something that leads to his capture.
