Your engine light is an indicator of something amiss....it can be something as simple as a gas cap that needs to be retightened [yes, the light will come on if appropriate level of pressure has not been reached in the gas cap seal]; it could be ONE faulty spark plug; or it could be something more serious....

Try unscrewing your gas cap and then rescrewing it tightly...if the light does not go out within a few miles and after turning off engine and then restarting - then it is time to take the vehicle in to a mechanic who can put your car on diagnostic machine.

If the light is steady you need not IMMEDIATELY worry - but if it is blinking then your problem needs immediate attention.

OK, the engine light being on is telling you that one of the engines' sensors for the computer has failed or found a problem within your engines operating system.
Easiest thing to do is to visit your local Auto Zone parts store. They will for free test your cars computer and pinpoint the problem with the computers sensor. Then they will or can recomend a repair for you. Scanners are now on the market to help the do it yourself owners to diagnosis their own cars, but the cost of this scanner is still expensive. Go the free way to Auto Zone or another parts store that offers this free service.
good luck......

Check the owner's manual. Sometimes it'll list what fuses work for certain parts of your dash. Find the fuse that lights the check engine light and pul it out.
