Well, maybe not for the first time in his life, but for me! So the humidity level is about 50-60%, he's got a good-size bowl of water he can go in (but hasn't yet), and he heat is perfect.. SO..how long is this process? His eyes just got clouded over and his belly is turning a pinkish color. Is there anything I should know about this process that's really important for his health? Like.. well... I think I have everything covered but just to be sure...

You are doing great. After the eyes get claudy for a while, they will get clear again, and then shed begins. Once he/she starts, it could be a quick thing, you will just find the old skin discarded like an old sock.

If the shed goes bad, you will find the snake with patches of dried skin all over. This is not a crisis, ok? What I used to do is get a humid towel and let the snake run through it, it will help him/her get rid of the dried skin.

When you get the discarded skin, check for the eye caps to make sure that they came off. Is probably the only part that, if it doesn't come off, can lead to health issues down the road.

It will take about a week, maybe less, maybe more. It sounds like you have a pretty good grip of whats going on, and you did your homework! Just keep that humidity up however you need to and everything should be fine. :)

The sign of a job well done is that your snake sheds in nice one big piece (sometimes it may be 2 or 3, but they will be big pieces, not 1000 dry flaky pieces.)

When he does shed just check his skin and make sure his eyes shed too - you'll see both eyecaps on his head shed.
Good Luck :)

do you have like a rock or a stick or something that he can rub up against to get the skin off??
he is probably going to shed pretty soon and you have everything covered

i agree with everyone else, but i don't really recomend having a bowl for soaking. they usually won't and it's not good for there skin. don't worry i have a baby and he sheds without ever having even gone into his bowl.

you are worrying too much. it'll shed when it is ready. if the eyes have only just gone cloudy then it still wont be for a couple of days. n chances are you wont see it happen.
